Webland Nameservers

Please use the following nameservers and, if required, the corresponding IP addresses:

  • ns1.webland.ch (92.43.216.7)

  • ns2.webland.ch (92.43.217.7)

  • ns3.webland.ch (92.43.216.8)

  • ns4.webland.ch (92.43.217.8)

External Management of Nameservers and DNS Zones

If you choose to manage your own nameservers or DNS zones, please follow this key rule:

  • Never use direct IP addresses—always use hostnames instead.

  • This ensures that your web and mail servers remain accessible even if the IP addresses change.

Examples of Correct DNS Entries

Example 1: MX Record for Mail Servers

Correct:

MX 5 ms1.webland.ch.

Incorrect:

MX 5 92.43.217.101

Why?
Using ms1.webland.ch ensures that mail forwarding remains intact even if the IP address changes.

Example 2: Web Server Entry (CNAME Instead of A Record)

Correct:

$ORIGIN meinedomain.ch. www IN CNAME wl1.webland.ch.

Incorrect:

$ORIGIN meinedomain.ch. www IN A 92.43.216.101

Why?
A CNAME record ensures that any changes to the web server's IP address are automatically reflected.
